If I haven't already mentioned that I am going on holiday it is possible that you will hear a lot more about it this week...
A week today I shall be jetting off to Croatia for a week with friends to drink rose, lie by the pool, eat delicious late lunches and swim in the sea. I am EXTREMELY excited and because of this I am going to show you four summer looks I want to replicate poolside.
Starting with accessories (and excuse how Whistles heavy it is but they are really having a moment) and a slightly impractical though thoroughly desirable chain white clutch / shoulder bag - perfect for carefully edited essentials and in this instance to match your shoes in a throwback to the 90's. These sunglasses are very much on my wish list, the thick rims and transparent frames are right up my street. On the jewellery front we have the MOXHAM OTTO cuffs, excuse the egocentric entry but they ARE a bestseller and they do look pretty brilliant on so I think it is allowed. Lastly we have a Saint Laurent - esque black hat which is a no brainer - everyone needs one.
We move on to a medley of tops - our favourite CARO tee in this sunshine yellow by Marina London, white cropped top from Zara, ornate organza from Simone Rocha and a black silk cami from Tibi. Two of these I will own imminently, one of which I will lust after (oh Simone I love you) and I am already in possession of a cut price Zara black camisole which since being purchased has not left my body even though I feel like Mel from All Saints.
So a few themes may be emerging now that we're down to the bottom half...
1. I am loving seperates - ideally a top and skirt, although shorts are a close second.
2. Dresses are OVER - bold statement and seeing as half my wardrobe is dresses a little dramatic.
3. I love block colours - as you can see here i've gone for yellow / white / pink / black and this is an accurate representation of my wardrobe.
Below we have a yellow skirt from Zara which I wore recently in a post with We The People - see here. I also stumbled across this utility skirt from River Island which is incredibly unusual as I never shop there but my fashion PR super friend Hannah told me about their brilliant T-shirts over dinner so I had a little look and found this - love! Thirdly we have a COS, A-line canvas skirt, short enough to be flattering and a beautiful Raspberry colour. Last but by no means least we have another Whistles entry with this wrapover leather skirt which is potentially a little sticky for holiday conditions but it is so good i'm willing to overlook this.
Right, now we're on to the shoes and things are getting serious. Four absolute staples none of which I yet own which will shortly be rectified. These & Other Stories white ankle tie platform sandals are interesting and, despite leaning towards the single sole these days, look modern and droolworthy. On the black front we have some COS classics and the Whistles Kamikaze sandal (shoe 4) which I banged on about recently on our Instagram page. The flats (which I only like to wear when absolutely necessary) are a Celine inspired, cut price Zara version. They do have the potential to be deeply unflattering but the tan, the leather, the simple shape are really ticking the right boxes for me and may just be the perfect way to dress down this summer's hottest colour - oh god I LOVE pink!
For now I am wearing black jeans, grey Uniqlo t-shirt, oversized blazer and the XENO cuffs and am still a bit chilly - London as always is a little slow on the summer front but... did I mention i'm going on holiday?
